Marvel’s Spider-Man is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games, for whom it will be the first licensed title. It is played from the third-person perspective, and is set in an open-world, modern day New York.

Rather than explore his origin story again, Marvel’s Spider-Man shows Peter Parker as a confident hero with years’ worth of experience under his belt. It tells an original story – not something you’ve seen in the movies before – and has Spider-Man facing the biggest threat in his crime fighting career yet. Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is a team-based 4v4 brawler with acrobatic action and high-speed battles across varied arenas based on the ninja villages. Shadows: Awakening is an isometric single-player RPG with real-time combat developed by Games Farm and published by Kalypso Media. It is the so-called Book II of Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, which itself is a sequel of the 2005 classic Kult: Heretic Kingdoms.

In Shadows Awakening the player embodies the Devourer: a demon with the ability to consume souls of heroes and use them as puppets. Following the success of Yakuza Kiwami, the HD remake of the original Yakuza (2006), Sega is gearing up to release a similarly remade Yakuza 2 – titled predictably Yakuza Kiwami 2.

Much like its predecessor, the upcoming game runs on Sega’s Dragon Engine, and features completely remade visuals of the characters, as well as seamless maps of the Osaka and Tokyo areas the story takes place in. Strange Brigade is a cooperative third-person shooter for one to four players developed by British studio Rebellion. The game is set in 1930s Egypt, where Seteki the Witch Queen has risen after being buried in a nameless tomb for 4,000 years. It is up to the fearless explorers of the titular Strange Brigade to fight off her armies of mummified monstrosities – and perhaps snag some ancient treasures while at it.

Each of the four playable characters comes with their own weapons, abilities, and even magic amulets which are charged by defeating enemies. Players have to work as a team to survive and accomplish objectives.

Shenmue I & II follows the story of a teenage jujitsu artist, Ryo Hazuki, who upon returning to his father’s dojo witnesses his murder at the hands of a Chinese man, Lan Di. Ryo sets out on a path of revenge, first gathering information around his native town of Yokosuka, then, in the second installment, crossing the sea in search of his farther’s killer.

Shenmue I & II is coming to modern consoles and the PC not as full remakes, but as more straightforward ports, albeit bringing a number of improvements over the Dreamcast classics. These include the option for the original Japanese audio, a choice between modern and classic controls, updated user interface, and adjustable screen resolution on PC. On both consoles, the games are rendered in HD resolution, and locked to 30 FPS due to limitations of the game engine.

We Happy Few is a survival horror game developed by indie studio Compulsion Games and published by Gearbox. Taking place in a dystopian, retrofuturistic 1960s England, the game puts the player into the shoes of three “moderately terrible” people who seek to escape the fictional town of Wellington Wells and its perpetually drugged-out and cheerful inhabitants.

While originally intended as a small, Kickstarter-funded title, the game has since then grown in scope, and will now be getting a worldwide release digitally and through retail channels. Code of Princess EX is a frantic hack-and-slash game with role-playing elements developed by Studio Saizensen and published by Nicalis for Nintendo Switch. There are over 50 different playable characters that can be upgraded with new abilities and equipment, and played in campaign mode as well as cooperative and competitive online multiplayer.

LEGO Incredibles is a Lego-themed action-adventure game developed by Traveller’s Tales and published by Warner Bros. Players take control of the Parr family of superheroes, utilizing their unique abilities to fight crime, defeat supervillains, and build enormous Lego structures.

Vampyr is an action RPG developed by French studio Dontnod Entertainment and published by Focus Home Interactive. According to the developer Undead Labs, the world of the sequel is more dangerous and unpredictable, featuring unique survivor characters with their own backstories. Dragon’s Crown Pro is a 2D hack-and-slash action RPG developed by Japanese company Vanillaware and published by Atlus in North America. It is a remaster of the 2013 title Dragon’s Crown and retains all its features while boasting refined artwork, 4K support on the PS4 Pro, and a newly recorded soundtrack supported by a live orchestra. Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is an upcoming action RPG based on the popular anime series from Studio Trigger. Developed by APlus Games and published by Bandai Namco, it will see a localized digital release on PlayStation Store and Steam this May.

The Yakuza franchise of action-adventure games renowned for realistic urban environments, over-the-top brawling, and silly shenanigans is getting another installment. Titled Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the upcoming game deals with the final chapter of protagonist Kazuma Kiryu’s story. Returning from a three-year stint in prison, Kazuma finds his surrogate daughter Haruka missing from the orphanage, and sets out to investigate.

Publisher Sega promises visual improvements thanks to Yakuza 6 being built from the ground up on a new Dragon Engine. For the first time in the series, the game will be fully voiced in Japanese. The players will get to explore the modernized streets of Kamurocho, the largest red-light district in Tokyo, as well as the scenic coastal town of Onomichi.

Extinction is a fantasy-themed action game developed by Iron Galaxy Studios and published by Maximum Games.
