The fifth main installment in Ubisoft’s Far Cry franchise takes place in a fictional Hope County in modern-day Montana. Players take on the role of a local sheriff’s deputy, and fight a radical doomsday cult known as Eden’s Gate, which is led by the charismatic Joseph Seed.

Far Cry 5 features all the series’ staples, such as open world, various vehicles, customizable weapons, and gadgets. Metal Gear Survive is an action-adventure game developed and published by Konami. In a departure from the main series, it takes place in an alternate reality, where survivors of the Mother Base’s destruction in Ground Zeroes were transported through a wormhole. In a harsh desert world infested by crystal-headed zombies, they have to defend their base, farm for food, and craft the items necessary for survival.

Metal Gear Survive offers both a single-player campaign and a co-op mode for up to four players. The former focuses on stealthy exploration of the game’s world, while the latter has the players working together to accomplish various missions. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is an action-adventure platformer developed by Lizardcube and published by DotEmu. It is a HD remake of the 1989 title Wonder Boy III, and features a re-orchestrated soundtrack and new hand-drawn visuals (with a toggle to switch to the original sprite-based graphics, should the player prefer them).

The game follows a lone adventurer, who after being turned into a half-lizard by the Meka-Dragon, sets out to find a magical item with the power to remove the curse. Shadow of the Colossus is a fantasy action-adventure game that follows a lonely warrior on a quest to defeat the massive Colossi roaming the lands in order to bring a loved one back to life. Originally developed by Team Ico, it will see a release on PlayStation 4 courtesy of JAPAN Studio and Bluepoint Games, the same company which worked on the PS3 remaster.

EA’s latest installment in the Battlefront franchise brings improvements across the board, most notably a proper single-player campaign and a revamped multiplayer. The campaign’s story is told from the perspective of the Imperials and picks up right at the end of The Return of the Jedi; it is centered around an elite squad commander Iden Versio, who vows revenge on the Rebels following the destruction of the second Death Star.

The multiplayer in Battlefront II spans the entire Star Wars timeline and includes playable heroes from the prequels as well as the new trilogy. The game retains the original reboot’s 20 vs 20 multiplayer mode, but expands it to include “galactic-scale” space combat, a feature that was much requested by the fans. Ittle Dew 2 is a 3D action-adventure with RPG elements developed by indie studio Ludosity and published by Nicalis. It follows the titular adventurer Ittle and her flying fox companion Tippsie, who are stranded on a mysterious island filled with loot and puzzles, and have to find eight pieces of a raft that will take them home.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is a murder-mystery visual novel developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by NIS America in the West. Metroid: Samus Returns is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by MercurySteam and Nintendo for the latter’s 3DS handhelds. It is a remake of the 1991 Game Boy title Metroid II: Return of Samus, and follows the legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran on her mission to exterminate the parasitic Metroid species.

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm is a graphic adventure game developed by Deck Nine Games and published by Square Enix. As a prequel to Dontnod Entertainment’s award-winning Life is Strange, it takes place three years prior, and follows a sixteen-year-old Chloe Price who is struggling to deal with the loss of her father.

The 2017 version of Yakuza Kiwami is a full remake of the very first title in Sega’s long-lived Yakuza series. The game runs in 1080p and at 60 FPS, and features re-recorded audio by the original Japanese voice actors. ARK: Survival Evolved is an open-world survival game developed by Studio Wildcard. The player is stranded on an island filled with dinosaurs and other prehistoric species, and they must craft weapons, acquire food, and build shelter to survive. Developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a standalone story chapter in the Uncharted universe starring Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross.
