Battlefield 1 is a first-person shooter set in World War I. It is developed by EA DICE and runs on their proprietary Frostbite engine, which supports DX12. Shadow Warrior 2 is an upcoming sequel to the Flying Wild Hog’s 2013 first-person shooter. It takes place five years after the events in the first game, and once again puts the players into the shoes of wisecracking ninja Lo Wang. The sequel is less linear and some level elements are procedurally-generated. Shadow Warrior 2 also boasts over 70 different weapons which can be augmented and leveled up by killing enemies. Gears of War 4 is a third-person shooter developed by Microsoft-owned The Coalition studio. The game takes place on the planet of Sera, 25 years after the Imulsion Countermeasure Weapon was used to great effect. The remainder of the population now lives in walled-of cities, excluding the Outsiders which raid the COG territories for resources. Gears of War 4 follows a new protagonist, JD Fenix (the son of Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud) who, alongside his comrades Delmont “Del” Walker and Kait Diaz, has to deal with a new threat to humanity.

Rise of Iron is the fourth expansion to online shooter Destiny, which brings a story campaign set within a new location on Earth called The Plaguelands. The expansion also features a new Strike and Raid, new Crucible mode and maps, new gear, and an additional enemy faction, the Fallen.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is an upcoming cyberpunk-themed action RPG developed by Eidos Montreal. Set two years after the events of Human Revolution, it follows the same protagonist Adam Jensen, who is now working for an anti-terrorist organization called Task Force 29.

The game is fundamentally similar to its predecessor, allowing different approaches to achieve your goals and featuring mechanics like hacking and conversation battles. Homefront: The Revolution is an open-world, first-person shooter developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver. It is a follow-up to the 2011 title Homefront, which centers around resistance fighters in Korea-occupied North America. DOOM is a reboot of the classic first-person shooter series by id Software. The new installment targets 1080p at 60 FPS on the consoles, with higher resolutions available on the PC (FPS is still locked at 60). The game features a large variety of weapons, including classics such as the chainsaw or the super shotgun. The new combat system encourages players to keep pushing forward, as enemies drop ammo and health packs when killed.

The game features many elements from the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre, such as a diverse set of characters with different abilities and roles, an in-match leveling system, and competitive, objective-based play modes. Quantum Break is an upcoming third-person action-adventure game developed by Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft. It follows protagonist Jack Joyce, who gains time manipulation powers after an experiment goes wrong. Tom Clancy’s The Division is a third-person MMO shooter set in a near-future version of New York, which was devastated by a weaponized virus. Star Wars: Battlefront is an upcoming reboot of the original series sharing the same name. Halo 5: Guardians is the next installment in Xbox’s flagship franchise, and the second title in the Reclaimer saga. The story of the game takes place 8 months after the events of Halo 4. Humanity’s colonies are under attack, and to make matters worse, Master Chief has gone AWOL. Jameson Locke, a newly-made SPARTAN-IV, is tasked with hunting him down.

Both Agent Locke and Master Chief are playable in Halo 5. The protagonists are accompanied by three squad members who each have their own loadouts and specialties. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is a 1080p remaster of the original game from nearly a decade ago which includes five campaign chapters never released on Xbox, modernized multiplayer running at 60 FPS (campaign is still 30 FPS), a total of 19 maps, updated controls tuned for Xbox One, and new Xbox Live achievements. There also are five Gears of War comic books which can be unlocked and read in-game.

Battlefield Hardline is a first-person shooter developed by Visceral Games in collaboration with DICE, and published by EA. Unlike the previous installments in the series, BFHL is police-themed and pits cops against robbers in a variety of game modes. Heist, for example, tasks the criminals with stealing money from a vault and escaping while law enforcement officers attempt to stop them. Blood Money has both teams competing to carry money from the main cache to their own vault. Then there’s the Rescue mode, which, like the name suggests, involves retrieving hostages being held by the criminals.

In addition to the ever-popular multiplayer, Battlefield Hardline also features a proper single-player campaign. Its story follows Nick Mendoza, a rookie detective who, alongside with his more experienced partner Khai Minh Dao, attempts to take down Miami’s drug lords.

Evolve is a sci-fi themed asymmetric multiplayer FPS developed by Turtle Rock Studios (creators of Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead) and published by 2K Games. The game pits four Hunters against an alien Monster in various environments on Shear, a wild and dangerous planet that humanity is trying to colonize.

There are four Hunter classes in total (Assault, Support, Medic, and Trapper), with three different characters each. In addition to the class ability, every character possesses unique weapons and equipment of their own. Combining these and working as a team is crucial in order to achieve victory as a Hunter.

As for Monsters, there also are three, with more likely to come after launch. Each Monster has a unique play-style with different abilities which can be improved when the player consumes enough wildlife to evolve to the next Stage. Monsters can win the match by either killing all four Hunters, or evolving to Stage 3 and accomplishing a secondary objective (for example, destroying a power relay).
