MLB The Show 18 is a sports game developed by SIE San Diego and published by Sony exclusively for their PS4 consoles. This new installment sets out to deliver authentic baseball matches in classic and current stadiums that “feel so real you can smell the grass”, according to the official website.

The game features New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge on its cover, and is available in four different editions. More on their contents, as well as pre-order incentives, after the jump.

EA Sports UFC 3 is the company’s third entry in their UFC mixed martial arts franchise. The game touts realistic and responsive animations (with over 5,000 new animations captured and rebuilt from the ground up), a G.O.A.T. Career Mode where players may build hype, create rivalries, and land big contracts, as well as new multiplayer modes for fast and fun fights: Stand & Bang, Submission Showdown, and Fight Now Custom.

Rugby 18 is a rugby union simulator developed by French studio Eko Software and published by Bigben for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Steam. As rugby titles are far and few in between compared to other sports, it is notable for being the first to release on current-gen consoles.

Rugby 18 features all the best teams of the 2017-2018 season from RBS 6 Nations, AVIVA Premiership Rugby, Guinness PRO14, PRO D2, and more. According to the developer, the game offers 2,000 faithfully recreated players, realistic field damage, dynamic replays, and intuitive controls. There are online and offline Quick Match, Career, Tournament, Season, and Weekly Match modes, and it is possible to create your own team.

WWE 2K18 is the nineteenth installment in the WWE wrestling game series, which like its recent predecessors is developed by Yuke’s and Visual Concepts, and published by 2K Sports. Unlike the franchise’s preceding titles, it won’t be released for the previous-gen consoles, and the system requirements for the PC version are said to have gone up significantly.

The game features the Monday Night Raw ace, 31-year-old Seth Rollins on its cover. With the tagline of “Be Like No One”, the publisher promises hard-hitting action, stunning graphics, drama, excitement, and everything players have come to love in WWE 2K. There is a total of 46 playable wrestlers in the upcoming game.

FIFA 18 is the latest installment in EA Sports’ football simulator series. Featuring Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid on its cover, the game includes updated clubs, kits, and rosters from the top leagues around the world.

Like the previous title, FIFA 18 runs on Frostbite engine and features The Journey, a story mode which follows a young athlete Alex Hunter’s rise to stardom. This mode now includes a local multiplayer, so your friends can seamlessly drop in and play as any other player on Hunter’s team. The Journey is limited to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows platforms, however; last-gen consoles and Nintendo Switch won’t run on Frostbite, and will offer less features.

NBA 2K18 is the latest installment in 2K Sports’ bestselling basketball game series, developed by Visual Concepts for current- and last-gen consoles as well as PC. It will be the first NBA 2K title to be released on Nintendo Switch. One of its most notable features is the new “Run The Neighborhood” shared-world career mode.

NHL 18 is the latest installment in EA’s officially licensed ice hockey franchise. In addition, NHL 18 introduces 3-on-3 hockey with the arcade-inspired NHL Threes mode, which includes couch co-op and competitive online team play. After being absent in 2017, EA Tiburon returns to the world of basketball gaming with their latest installment. NBA LIVE 18 brings new features and gameplay, and is notable for being the first title to include the official WNBA roster of teams and players. The game’s cover features James Harden of Houston Rockets.

One of the most touted features of NBA LIVE 18 is the new career mode dubbed The One. The mode is divided into The League, or pro NBA games, and The Streets, aka pick-up games played on real-world outdoor courts. The player’s progress in both is tracked through always-online connectivity and contributes to their ranking in The One. A free demo of NBA LIVE 18 which contains The Rise, or the prologue of The One, is out since August 11 for Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus subscribers; progress made in the demo will carry over to the main game.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 is a soccer simulator developed by PES Productions and published by Konami. It brings various gameplay improvements, such as more precise ball handling and improved physics, as well as graphical upgrades for increased authenticity, despite the game still running on the same Fox Engine. Madden NFL 18, the latest installment in EA’s long-running American football franchise, is the first one to be powered by the company’s proprietary Frostbite engine. In addition to the graphical improvements, this also means the game features a story mode, another first for the series.

Three different playstyles are offered – Arcade, Simulation, and Competitive – which provide different experiences tailored to a certain type of gamer. As the name implies, The Golf Club 2 is a golf simulator, developed by Canadian HB Studios and published by Maximum Games. It brings numerous advances compared to its predecessor, most notably Golf Societies with their own clubhouses, in-game bank balances, and the ability to compete with other Societies online and climb the leaderboards. The Player Creator with its almost limitless combinations for customizing your avatar is another significant enhancement, according to the developer. MLB The Show 17 is a Major League Baseball game developed by Sony San Diego exclusively for the PS4. The game features Hall of Fame outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. on its cover, the first retired athlete to grace the cover of The Show. Griffey will also be playable in the upcoming title.

Ride 2 is a motorcycle racing title developed by Milestone S.r.l., a video game studio based in Milan, Italy, and specializing in racing simulators. Like its predecessor, Ride 2 aims to provide a highly realistic experience, with an accurate physics engine and true-to-world graphics. The game features over 230 licensed bikes, all of which are highly customizable using over 1,200 real-world parts and accessories. Even the rider has many options in clothing, riding style, and gear.

American fans were in an unenviable position when the game’s release was delayed in the NA, while going ahead as scheduled in Europe. However, they can take solace in the fact that nine free DLC packs will launch from February to July, and the game will also have a Day One Edition with added bonuses. Square Enix is to publish Ride 2 in the region.

Steep is a winter sports game developed and published by Ubisoft for Windows and current-gen consoles. Set in the Alps, it includes skiing, wingsuit flying, snowboarding, and paragliding as the main activities. The players can participate in races, perform tricks, explore and unlock new challenges, and record and share their performances.

Steep features an open world with a variety of environments as well as dynamic weather and day / night cycle. The game does require an internet connection to play as the social features are integral to the gameplay. It supports up to four players in a co-op.

FIFA 17 is the latest soccer title from the experienced sports game developer EA Canada. It features significant changes and improvements over its predecessor, first and foremost being the switch from Ignite to the more advanced Frostbite graphics engine. Another big addition is The Journey mode, in which the player assumes the role of Premier League’s next rising star, Alex Hunter. While it plays just like the Be A Pro mode on the field, there also are scripted events with multiple dialogue options.

As a result of a fan vote, FIFA 17 now features Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund on its cover. The other potential candidates were Anthony Martial (Manchester United), James Rodríguez (Real Madrid), and Eden Hazard (Chelsea); these football ambassadors participated in motion capture and helped make the game more realistic.

NBA 2K17 is a basketball simulator developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports for current- and last-gen consoles as well as Windows. NHL 17 features Vladimir Tarasenko as its cover athlete. The St. Louis Blues forward was chosen after a fan vote on NHL.com and Twitter, where more than six million votes were cast in total.

Madden NFL 17 is the latest installment in the popular football game franchise, made by the usual developers, EA Tiburon, for current and last-gen consoles. The upcoming title is said to offer the most balanced gameplay to date, bringing new ball carrier feedback cues, defender fake out mechanics, and an authentic defensive AI system based on modern NFL strategies.

There is also a bigger focus on Franchise mode, which some players found underwhelming in the game’s predecessor Madden NFL 16. Finally, there is a new feature called Madden 365 which will presumably provide daily updates to the game.
