This game was released on June 21, 2011 and is no longer available to pre-order. Any incentives that were offered are listed below.

Gods & Heroes is an upcoming MMORPG set in a mythical version of Ancient Rome, which mixes real historical elements with beasts of legend and Olympian gods. The game will put you in the shoes of a powerful demigod hero, and let you choose one of the four classes (Gladiator, Mystic, Soldier, and Priest) as well as a deity you’re aligned with.

Two of the most interesting features of G&H are Estates and Minions. The first one is a personal instance system. Several MMORPGs have offered player housing before, but Gods and Heroes goes one step further by giving each player control of an entire valley. Estates are account-wide, so your alts will have access to all the buildings and NPCs you’ve acquired.

The Minion system will allow the player to control a squad of up to 4 AI hirelings. There will be more than 130 minions of various types to choose from, such as warriors, archers, mages, and mythological beings (including exclusive ones depending on which god you follow). Regretfully, PvP won’t be in the game at launch, so you will be limited to battling monsters.

Gods and Heroes pre-order incentives

Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising hits the stores on June 21st in the US. You can get some nifty bonuses if you preorder the game from certain retailers.

GameStop is offering by far the best deal, with early access and exclusive in-game items:

  • Access to the Gods & Heroes Open Beta, starting on June 6th (beta keys are limited).
  • Tunic of the Gods item with a 5% experience boost.
  • Morea, a spellcaster minion which possesses healing magic, available from level 3 .
  • The Orator, a fancy marble statue for your estate.

Amazon is also offering a G&H pre-order incentive: people who reserve a copy of the game with them will receive $10 promotional credit for items sold on Amazon.com.

Gods & Heroes official trailer

This trailer shows some of the monsters you can look forward to fighting in the game, such as centaurs, cyclopes, gorgons, and even massive, fire-breathing hydras. The Minion system is also previewed towards the end of the video.

Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising did have a rocky development history, with the original makers, Perpetual Entertainment, putting it on hold back in November 2008. However, since Heatwave Interactive acquired the rights to it in February 2010, the game has been undergoing beta testing and is finally going to be released next month.
