NHL 16 Box Art

This game was released on September 15, 2015 and is no longer available to pre-order. Any incentives that were offered are listed below.

NHL 16 is the next installment in EA’s highly popular hockey video game franchise. Developed for the current-gen consoles, the game will also be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 as NHL: Legacy Edition.

After the poorly-received NHL 15, the developers are making numerous changes to the upcoming title, such as bringing back the fan-favorite EA Sports Hockey League (EASHL) mode and online-enabled couch co-op. Other notable features include more precise goalie controls, new player morale mechanic in Be a GM, and various visual improvements for added authenticity.

Pre-order bonuses

Gamers who reserve a copy of NHL 16 will receive 15 HUT Gold Packs (1 per week for 15 weeks, $15 in value). The following retailers also have something additional to offer.

  • GameStop: 25 HUT Gold Packs (1 per week for 25 weeks) instead of 15
  • Microsoft Store: $10 Xbox gift card

The game is also available in a Deluxe Edition, which increases the price by $10 and includes extra Hockey Ultimate Team content worth up to $50.

Gameplay trailer

The official trailer presented at this year’s E3 shows some dramatic moments captured in-engine. The term “gameplay” applies loosely here, even though the video is labeled as such.

NHL 16 is scheduled to be released on September 15, 2015 for current-gen as well as previous-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
