Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action RPG from Polish developer CD Projekt RED renowned for The Witcher series. Loosely based on the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020, the game is set in the Night City, a sprawling dystopian metropolis where megacorporations and cybernetically-enhanced gangs coexist in a precarious balance, and danger lurks around every corner.

Players assume the role of V, a mercenary outlaw on the hunt for a prototype cybernetic implant that is the key to immortality. V is fully customizable, from appearance to gender to backstory, and gains power through learning skills and acquiring cyberware as the player progresses through the game. The choices made throughout the story – including the sidequests – shape the world and affect the ultimate ending of Cyberpunk 2077.

DOOM Eternal is a direct sequel to id Software’s 2016 shooter DOOM. Upon returning to Earth, the Slayer finds it invaded by demons and proceeds to do what he does best: rip and tear through their hordes. There are new weapons, such as the distance-closing Meat Hook, new abilities, and new classes of enemies with unique attacks.

Another new feature in DOOM Eternal is a Dark Souls-like invasion mechanic where the player assumes the role of a demon and invades the other players’ campaigns. While it won’t be available at launch, it will be added as a free update shortly after. There is also an online 2-vs-1 Battlemode that involves the Doom Slayer facing off against two player-controlled demons.

FIFA 20 is the latest installment in EA’s popular football simulator franchise, bringing a number of officially-licensed leagues and teams as well as new gameplay features. A system EA calls Authentic Game Flow grants AI players a better understanding of positioning on the pitch to better support the user-controlled player, and new ball physics are claimed to elevate the gameplay to new levels of realism.

Perhaps the most exciting new feature is the FIFA Street-inspired Volta game mode, which involves 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5 matches with or without goalkeepers taking place in various urban locations around the world. There is a Volta story mode similar to The Journey from the previous FIFA installments, as well as an online Volta League.

GreedFall is a single-player fantasy RPG from an independent French studio Spiders. The game’s art direction is inspired by 17th century Europe, and it takes place on a fictional continent of the Old World that is plagued by overpopulation, pollution, and an incurable epidemic. The only hope is a newly discovered land, Teer Fradee, where the game’s protagonist sails off to establish a colony – yet the island is teeming with fantastical creatures and magic-wielding locals.

GreedFall promises a high degree of freedom both in character progression and the way players can approach their objectives. Quests can be accomplished through combat, diplomacy, or deception, and choices made throughout the game influence the story.

Shadowkeep is an upcoming expansion to Bungie’s Destiny 2 that marks the game’s transition to a free-to-play action MMO. As new nightmares emerge from the shadows of the moon, the players have to slay them before they can cast humanity back into an age of darkness.

Shadowkeep brings deeper character customization with expanded RPG elements, adding back stats and overhauling the armor system. Guardians also get a new type of ability called finishing moves.

With Steam and Google Stadia versions on the way, Destiny 2 will offer cross-saves, allowing the player to transfer their Guardian to any supported platform. This should ease the game’s transition from Battle.net to Steam.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a 4X turn-based strategy game developed by Triumph Studios and published by Paradox Interactive. In a departure from its fantasy roots, Planetfall is sci-fi themed and involves up to six factions with unique units and technologies vying for control over alien worlds.

Planetfall offers several diverse game modes: the single-player story campaign, randomly-generated maps, and multiplayer (online, hotseat, and asynchronous). The matches have multiple paths to victory by employing conquest, diplomacy, or doomsday technologies.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are eight-generation core Pokémon games that take place in the Galar region heavily inspired by Great Britain. Players choose one of three new partner Pokemon – Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble – and embark on a journey as a Pokémon Trainer, catching, trading, and battling both returning and never-before-seen Pokémon.

New features include the Dynamax mode, which causes the trainer’s Pokémon to grow in size and power for a limited number of turns, as well as Max Raid battles which allow up to four trainers to take on a Max Raid Pokémon together.
