Resistance 3 is a PS3-exclusive shooter developed by Insomniac Games that will be released in September this year. The game takes place four years after Resistance 2, in a world where United States and the rest of Earth is lost to the Chimeran menace. Unlike in the previous two games, the main character of R3 is going to be Joseph Capelli, who after the events in Resistance 2 settled in an underground outpost, Haven, in Oklahoma.
Resistance 3 will play similarly to the previous installments, but there have been some changes to game mechanics. There won’t be health regeneration, so you might have to play more carefully. The game will feature both new and old weapons, all of which will be upgradeable. The player will have the ability to climb over walls and jump through windows, and the controls will also be tweaked slightly.

Madden NFL 12 is an upcoming American football simulator, developed, as usual, by EA Tiburon, and published by EA Sports. EA owns an exclusive license to use NFL materials until 2013, so it is still going to be a while until there’s any alternative to their Madden series.
Madden 12 will feature a number of improvements and additions, such as a new tackling system, enhanced defensive AI, custom playbooks, and online communities. The Franchise mode has also been improved with new features like dynamic player performance, expanded rosters and cut days, new rookie scouting system, and more. Josh Looman, the senior designer in charge of the Franchise mode, even calls it “the most in-depth career mode game ever”.
Bethesda has announced that they will be releasing a special edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to mark the game’s fifth anniversary. This is an excellent chance to give Oblivion or its expansions a try if you haven’t played them before. It is going to be re-released in a sweet SteelBook package and will include the following goodies:
- Oblivion GotY edition (comes with both Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions)
- A full-color map of Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles (from the Collector’s Edition)
- A bonus making-of DVD (from the CE as well) with added Skyrim trailer
- A $10 discount coupon for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (coming out 11/11/11) – probably the best part of the package, and according to NitroBeard.com, it’s redeemable at any retailer in the US.

Gods & Heroes is an upcoming MMORPG set in a mythical version of Ancient Rome, which mixes real historical elements with beasts of legend and Olympian gods. The game will put you in the shoes of a powerful demigod hero, and let you choose one of the four classes (Gladiator, Mystic, Soldier, and Priest) as well as a deity you’re aligned with.
Two of the most interesting features of G&H are Estates and Minions. The first one is a personal instance system. Several MMORPGs have offered player housing before, but Gods and Heroes goes one step further by giving each player control of an entire valley. Estates are account-wide, so your alts will have access to all the buildings and NPCs you’ve acquired.
The Minion system will allow the player to control a squad of up to 4 AI hirelings. There will be more than 130 minions of various types to choose from, such as warriors, archers, mages, and mythological beings (including exclusive ones depending on which god you follow). Regretfully, PvP won’t be in the game at launch, so you will be limited to battling monsters.
Alice: Madness Returns is an upcoming multiplatform action-adventure game from Spicy Horse studio with game designer American McGee. It will be released in June this year for PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms.
The sequel picks up 11 years after the events of the first game. Alice is living in the gloomy Victorian London, still haunted by nightmarish hallucinations that interfere with reality. She seeks refuge in the Wonderland, but finds it warped by her own insanity. If Alice is to save herself from the madness, she has to use her Vorpal Blade and an array of other crazy weapons to defeat twisted enemies and recall the repressed memories of her past.
What do you get when you combine the talents of Suda 51 (No More Heroes) and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil)? The answer is Shadows of the Damned, a twisted third-person shooter for consoles that takes place in the underworld.
The protagonist of the game is Garcia Hotspur, a badass demon hunter clad in a leather jacket and armed with an array of unusual weapons – like a handgun called “Big Boner” (I kid you not). Garcia’s hot girlfriend Paula was kidnapped by demons from hell, so now he has to travel to the City of the Damned and rescue her from the clutches of the demon king Fleming.
Shadows of the Damned features a punk-rock theme with dark and macabre environments, outlandish humor and creative monster designs. The soundtrack by the British gothic punk band, the Damned, and video game composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) also contributes to the thrilling atmosphere of the game.
Catherine is an adult video game that combines puzzle platformer gameplay with a story full of erotic and horror elements. It is developed and published by a Japanese company Atlus, with cinematic scenes done by Studio 4°C.
The protagonist of the game is Vincent, a 32-year-old office worker who finds himself torn between two beautiful women. The first is his long-term girlfriend Katherine (shown on the Xbox 360 cover), and the other is a mysterious young Catherine (featured on the PS3 cover) who seduced Vincent after meeting him in a bar. After spending a night with the latter, the main character starts having nightmares in which he has to fight for his life.
