Fall of Cybertron is an upcoming third-person shooter, and a direct sequel to the 2010 title War for Cybertron. Like its predecessor, the game is developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision. It runs on Unreal Engine 3 and features both single player and multiplayer modes. The former depicts the final battle between Autobots and Decepticons, and, like the title suggests, the destruction of their home planet – Cybertron. Each playable Transformer in the game has a unique ability or a weapon. Players can also buy and upgrade their gear.

The multiplayer of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron features the same classes (Scientist, Infiltrator, Destroyer and Titan) that determine what you transform into, but character creator is vastly improved. Sleeping Dogs (previously known as True Crime: Hong Kong) is an open-world action game developed by United Front Games and Square Enix London, and published by Square Enix. You can think of it as GTA set in Hong Kong: there’s gunfights, street races, and melee combat. The latter is a lot more complex than in Grand Theft Auto series, and is said to borrow from Batman: Arkham City. Players can perform badass martial arts moves, and use the environment to their advantage. Darksiders II is a multiplatform action-adventure game developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ. This Darksiders sequel takes place during the events of the first game, but puts you in the role of a different Horseman of the Apocalypse – Death. The Horseman sets out to prove the innocence of his brother, War, and believes he can accomplish this by resurrecting the mankind.

The game features a number of improvements over its predecessor. For one, the world of Darksiders II is twice the size of the original. Some RPG elements are introduced, such as skill trees and loot drops. DII still lacks a multiplayer mode, however.

The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming action game for consoles developed by Beenox and published by Activision. This title takes place soon after the events in the 2012 Spiderman movie of the same name, and is said to feature villains like Black Cat, Rhino, and Iguana.

The game offers open-world roaming with plenty of side missions and challenges to discover and complete. A new game mechanic called Web Rush allows you to switch to first-person mode temporarily, and watch Spidey unleash some epic parkour moves. Lollipop Chainsaw is an upcoming hack ‘n slash action title from Grasshopper Manufacture with Suda51 as the Creative Director. The game’s protagonist is Juliet Starling: an 18-year-old high school student and a professional zombie hunter. The sexy cheerleader is armed with a customized chainsaw and accompanied by a decapitated head of her undead boyfriend. Predictably, the game is rated “Mature” by the ESRB due to violence, nudity, and strong language.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is an upcoming cover-based shooter game from Ubisoft. It is the fourth title in the series and takes place further in the future than the previous installments. Naturally, this means that more advanced military technologies are available, such as the new Optical Camo system which makes you harder to see when activated. The players also have customized weapons and controllable drones at their disposal.

The single-player campaign of GRFS will take you to Asia, Middle East, Africa, and other regions. Dragon’s Dogma is an upcoming action RPG from Capcom. The game’s main quest line involves hunting down a giant red dragon which stole your heart (as in, ripped it out of your chest and made away with it). In addition, Dragon’s Dogma has a vast open world for you to explore, and a large number of side quests.

The game offers three basic classes (vocations): Fighter, Strider, and Mage. These can later be upgraded to second tier vocations, or combined together into hybrid classes like Mystic Knight or Magic Archer. Max Payne 3 is the first game in the series to be developed by Rockstar. It takes place 8 years after the second one, with the titular protagonist working for a wealthy family in São Paulo, Brazil. According to game producer Sam Houser, Max is “more world-weary and cynical than ever”, and has apparently developed a drinking problem. Starhawk is a PS3-exclusive third-person shooter, set to release in May 2012. Similarly to its predecessor, Warhawk, the game offers split-screen and online multiplayer. Sniper Elite V2 is a remake of the 2005 game by the British Rebellion studio. It is a tactical shooter where the players assume the role of Karl Fairburne, an American sniper tasked with eliminating or capturing the German scientists working on the V-2 missile program during the World War II.

Like its predecessor, the game emphasizes stealth, tactical thinking, and planning. However, to make things more interesting, Sniper Elite V2 introduces a brutal kill cam that shows the bullet’s passage through the body in slow motion X-ray vision.

Prototype 2 is an upcoming open-world action game from Canadian Radical Entertainment studio. It picks up 14 months after the events of the original game, and features a new protagonist: Sergeant James Heller, who lost his wife and daughter in a Blacklight virus outbreak.

Volunteering for a Red Zone patrol, Heller barely survives an ambush which leaves his entire squad dead. Alex Mercer saves the man by infecting him with the Blacklight virus, and Heller soon develops incredible powers not unlike those of Mercer himself. Blaming Mercer for the death of his family, an enraged Sgt. Heller sets out to destroy him, and everyone else who stands in his way.

Risen 2: Dark Waters is a sequel to the action RPG Risen by a German game studio Piranha Bytes. Compared to its predecessor, the game features a larger world with more areas and quests, and the option to use firearms in addition to magic. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is an upcoming squad-based shooter game developed by Capcom and Slant Six Games. It takes place in the same time period as Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis do, and, like the name suggests, is set in Raccoon City.

The player steps into the shoes of an Umbrella Security Service officer, tasked with destroying any evidence of Umbrella Corporation’s illegal research. The game is said to allow the player to diverge from Resident Evil canon, such as killing Leon or Clair.

FIFA Street is an upcoming street soccer game from EA Sports. This game is the fourth in the series, but it is titled simply FIFA Street as it signifies a reboot of the franchise. Like the previous installments, FIFA Street offers multiple game modes involving small teams of up to 6 players, as well as one-on-one games. Unlike its predecessors, however, it features a more realistic visual style and uses the same engine as FIFA 12.

Yakuza: Dead Souls is a PS3-exclusive action-adventure game from SEGA. After a zombie outbreak in Kamurocho which leaves the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force decimated, the task of protecting the district falls to the four characters from the Yakuza series (Kazuma Kiryu, Goro Majima, Ryuji Goda, and Shun Akiyama).

Dead Souls is the first installment of the franchise to focus on guns, and includes pistols, machine guns, and even rocket launchers. The enemies include both regular zombies and fantastic bosses that are much harder to kill.

Silent Hill: Downpour is the eighth installment in the series. It is developed by a Czech studio, Vatra Games, and published by Konami. The game’s plot is unrelated to its predecessors, and centers around Murphy Pendleton – a convict who escaped when the bus transporting him crashed.

According to game producer Tomm Hulett, SH: Downpour takes place to the south-east of Toluca lake, a region that wasn’t explored in the previous Silent Hill titles. Unlike the previous installment, the game has a combat element, although Murphy is only be able to carry a single firearm and melee weapon. The weapons also deteriorate with usage.

Similarly to the previous installments, the game features multiple endings and involves puzzles, monster fights, and exploration. It’s also worth mentioning that Downpour is the first Silent Hill game to support stereoscopic 3D.

Mass Effect 3 is the final installment in Bioware’s critically acclaimed sci-fi saga.
