Overwatch is a team-based hero shooter developed by Blizzard for current-gen consoles and Windows. Homefront: The Revolution is an open-world, first-person shooter developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver. It is a follow-up to the 2011 title Homefront, which centers around resistance fighters in Korea-occupied North America. The sequel takes place four years after the events of the original game, features a new protagonist, and is set in a dystopian, near-future version of Philadelphia.

DOOM is a reboot of the classic first-person shooter series by id Software. The new installment targets 1080p at 60 FPS on the consoles, with higher resolutions available on the PC (FPS is still locked at 60). The game features a large variety of weapons, including classics such as the chainsaw or the super shotgun. The new combat system encourages players to keep pushing forward, as enemies drop ammo and health packs when killed.

Battleborn is a team-based first-person hero shooter developed by Gearbox Software. The game features many elements from the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre, such as a diverse set of characters with different abilities and roles, an in-match leveling system, and competitive, objective-based play modes. Dark Souls III is an action RPG developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The latest stealth-action game from IO Interactive is titled simply Hitman. It features more sandbox elements, a revamped Contracts mode, and an ability to create your own, custom assassination scenarios and share them with other players. Plot-wise, the new game takes place after the events of Absolution, except for the Prologue, which serves as a prequel and has Agent 47 meeting Diana for the first time.

What’s unusual about Hitman is that it is going to be released digitally in seven distinct episodes over the course of the year. Players can pre-order “The Full Experience” ($60) which includes all future episodes like a Season Pass, or get the “Intro Pack” ($15) which only includes the Prologue and the first episode, but still grants full access to Contracts and Escalation modes. The rest of the episodes can then be acquired by purchasing the “Upgrade Pack” ($50) should the player wish to do so. Tom Clancy’s The Division is a third-person MMO shooter set in a near-future version of New York, which was devastated by a weaponized virus. As the deadly pandemic sweeps through the nation, essential services fail one by one, and society itself collapses. It is under these circumstances that the last line of defense, the titular Division, is activated. Players take the role of one of its agents and are tasked with investigating the source of the virus and restoring order.

The Division runs on the next-gen Snowdrop engine developed by Ubisoft Massive. The game features a persistent open world and numerous RPG elements such as character levels, gear, and loot. Street Fighter V is the fifth main installment in Capcom’s massively popular fighting game franchise. It is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and features cross-platform play between PC and PlayStation 4. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter by Ubisoft which pits two teams of five against each other in various multiplayer modes. Players can choose from a number of classes – or Operators, as the game calls them – which are divided into defensive and offensive types, and have different skillsets.

Rainbow 6 Siege emphasizes teamwork and features procedural destruction, an important element of the gameplay. Attackers can utilize devices like breach charges or the hammer wielded by the Sledge class to destroy walls and open up new paths to their target, whereas the defending side can use barricades and barbed wire to delay or ambush the enemy.

Star Wars: Battlefront is an upcoming reboot of the original series sharing the same name. Developed by EA’s DICE, it focuses entirely on multiplayer, offering competitive game modes with up to 40 people as well as online and offline co-op missions. Fallout 4 is an upcoming action RPG developed and published by Bethesda. The game takes place in the post-apocalyptic Boston, two hundred years after the Great War.
