The Crew 2 is an open-world racing game developed by Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft. Compared to its predecessor, it offers more freedom by allowing the players to drive not only cars, but also planes, boats, and bikes, and even swap between them on-the-fly. The missions and challenges are divided into four categories – Street Racing, Off-Road, Pro Racing, and Freestyle – with different vehicle types used.
Much like in the previous title, there is a focus on co-op multiplayer and social aspects of the game, with the players able to join various racing events and challenge each other to beat their records. All progress and achievements are tracked and ranked online.
Pre-ordering the standard edition of The Crew 2 nets you two additional vehicles as a part of the Legendary Motors Pack: the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Touring Car 2016 and the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 2017.
The Deluxe Edition costs $70 and comes with both Legendary Motors and Motorsports Deluxe Packs. The latter consists of the following:
- Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck 2017
- Abarth 500 2008 Monster Truck Edition
- Pilatus PC-21 aerobatics plane
- Freestyle, Monster Rally, and Rally Raid outfits for your character
Lastly, the $100 Gold Edition includes the Legendary Motors Pack, the Motorsports Deluxe Pack, the Season Pass, and a three-day early access to the game.
The physical Gold Edition, only available for consoles, retails for $110 and adds a Steelbook on top of everything mentioned above.
The Crew 2 hits the streets on March 16, 2018. Those who pre-order the Gold Edition will get to start playing on March 13. There will also be an open beta prior to the launch; sign-ups are currently open on Ubisoft’s website.
