The Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG set in the world of Tamriel a thousand years before the events of Skyrim. It is developed by ZeniMax and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game has 9 races (10 including the Imperial Edition-exclusive Imperials), four classes with 3 diverse skill lines each, and three factions. PvP is faction-based, with opportunities for both smaller groups and larger ones to do their part in the war.

ESO does away with separate servers and all the related annoyances, and instead has just one “Mega Server” per region (US and Europe) for PC and Mac gamers. Xbox One and PS4 owners will be getting separate Mega Servers.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Box Art

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is an upcoming third-person shooter with tower defense elements developed by PopCap Games and published by EA. The game will be out for Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles on February 24th, and for Windows PCs at a later date. It runs on the powerful Frostbite 3 graphics engine and supports 4-player online co-op, competitive plants-versus-zombies online battles with up to 24 players, and also split-screen co-op on the Xbone. There’s no single player campaign in the game.

Infamous: Second Son is an upcoming third entry in the open-world action series Infamous by Sucker Punch. The game is a PS4-exclusive and features a new protagonist, Delsin Rowe (voiced by Troy Baker). Delsin, a 24-year-old street artist from Seattle, has the ability to absorb the powers of other Conduits and make them his own, much like Peter Petrelli from the TV show Heroes. He starts out with the ability to manipulate smoke at the beginning of Second Son, and gains more powers later on.

Titanfall Box Art

Titanfall is a highly anticipated multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Respawn Entertainment for Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows platforms. The game centers around fast-paced 6v6 matches with players fighting both on foot as pilots, and inside giant mecha called Titans. There are different classes of Titans, such as the highly armored Ogres or agile Stryders; there also are several loadouts (which can be further customized) available for both pilots and Titans.

Incidentally, the game runs on the tried-and-true Source engine from Valve, reportedly chosen for its ability to maintain 60 FPS on previous-gen consoles.

Gran Turismo 6 Box Art

Gran Turismo 6 is an upcoming racing simulator developed by Polyphony Digital for the PlayStation 3 platform. This sixth major release of Gran Turismo boasts 71 layouts of 33 tracks – including brand new locations for the series – and as many as 1,200 different cars.

Other improvements in GT6 include a fresh handling system, more detailed environments complete with accurate constellations during night racing, and a variety of challenges for the player to enjoy.

NHL 14 Box Art

NHL 14 is an upcoming hockey simulator developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports. The game includes a handful of new features like more realistic collisions, easier controls, new jostling mechanics, additional skating animations, and one-touch dekes. The collision system is powered by the same technology as used in the latest FIFA titles. An updated Be a Pro career mode is also present.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Box Art

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a relaunch of the original FFXIV with a brand new client, improved engine, different server system, streamlined interface, addition of new jobs as well as modification of existing ones, and so on. It does look like Square Enix did an impressive job of addressing the shortcomings of the game’s previous incarnation.

Meanwhile, the lore and storyline of the game stayed largely the same, although some things have changed there as well. In order to explain the changes in the land of Eorzea, A Realm Reborn takes place five years after the events in the original.
