Following the success of Yakuza Kiwami, the HD remake of the original Yakuza (2006), Sega is gearing up to release a similarly remade Yakuza 2 – titled predictably Yakuza Kiwami 2.
Much like its predecessor, the upcoming game runs on Sega’s Dragon Engine, and features completely remade visuals of the characters, as well as seamless maps of the Osaka and Tokyo areas the story takes place in. Voice lines and cutscenes have also been re-recorded, any inconsistencies in the script have been smoothed over, and there are challenging mini-games that hadn’t been present in the original title.
Pre-order Bonuses (Steam)
The bonus for pre-purchasing the 2019 Steam version is the Clan Creator Bundle containing rare leader cards, exclusive weapons and outfits, and bonus items.
Pre-order Bonuses (Consoles)
In another similarity with its predecessor, first-run copies of Yakuza Kiwami 2 ($49.99) come in a gorgeous Steelbook case, this one featuring Kiryu and his fierce rival, the Dragon of Kansai, Ryuji Goda.
While a pre-order isn’t necessary to get the bonus – you can just snag the game on launch date – some might consider it prudent to secure a copy as supplies of the Steelbook Edition are limited.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 has launched on August 28, 2018 for PlayStation 4 consoles and will be released on Steam on May 9, 2019.
