Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops that drops the players into the volatile geopolitical battle of the 1980s. In the single-player campaign, players will face historical figures and hunt a shadowy figure named Perseus across iconic locations such as like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, and Soviet KGB headquarters.

Single-player aside, Black Ops Cold War allows the players to employ their Cold War arsenal of weapons and equipment in the Zombies co-op mode. The upcoming game also shares progression with the battle royale title Warzone, including battle pass progression and inventory items that can be used in both titles.

Standard Edition ($59.99 / $69.99)

The standard edition of Call of Duty: BOCW is available for current and next-gen consoles, with the latter costing $10 more. Digital versions of the standard edition come with the Confrontation Weapons Pack that includes two weapon blueprints for use in Black Ops Cold War; the same does not appear to be the case for retail counterparts.

While current generation (PS4 or Xbox One) copies of the game can be played on next-gen consoles via backwards compatibility, they will lack next-gen enhancements such as higher framerates, ray tracing, and shorter load times. Players may upgrade digital versions of the game to next-gen via PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store at a later date, or just purchase the bundle outlined below to begin with.

Cross-Gen Bundle ($69.99)

The digital Cross-Gen Bundle includes the base game for both console generations within the same family (PlayStation 4 and 5 or Xbox One and Series X). It also includes the Confrontation Weapons Pack containing two weapon blueprints.

Ultimate Edition ($89.99)

Lastly, the $90 Ultimate Edition includes a digital copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for both console generations plus the following:
