Dragon Ball FighterZ is a 2.5D fighting game developed by Japanese company Arc System Works and published by Bandai Namco for current-gen consoles and Windows PCs. The game uses a 3v3 format, with players selecting three characters from the wildly popular Dragon Ball franchise to form a team. The characters can tag in and out of combat at any time, and call for assists to perform combos with the entire team.
As expected of a competitive fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ runs in 1080p at 60 FPS, save for the action cutscenes where it intentionally drops the framerate to achieve an anime-like look.
All Dragon Ball FighterZ pre-orders will get to unlock SSGSS Goku and SSGSS Vegeta immediately, and receive two exclusive lobby avatars.
The CollectorZ Edition retails for $140 and includes the following extras, as per Bandai Namco’s announcement:
- 7″ Goku Statue: a detailed diorama of Son Goku in his trademark pose, with a one-of-a-kind airbrushed paint job that gives the statue a “jumping off the pages of the manga” look.
- Three Art Cards: a set of high quality, hard covered, gold foil embossed cards that depict several fighters from the game.
- Exclusive Steelbook: a steel-brushed metal case with exclusive art from the game, to keep your copy of Dragon Ball FighterZ safe.
- Collectorz Box: a giant case to contain all of the goodies listed above.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is scheduled to be released in February 2018. Before that, there will be closed beta starting September 16; Xbox One players may enter through the Xbox Insider program, while PS4 players can sign up at Bandai Namco’s website.
