NBA 2K16 is a basketball simulator developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. Compared to its predecessor, it features more lifelike crowds, better player movement animations, and even more realistic shoes – all changes aimed at making NBA 2K16 “the most authentic NBA gaming experience yet.” It is also said that the game improves post play and allows taller athletes to use their height advantage over the smaller defenders when close to the basket.

NHL 16 is the next installment in EA’s highly popular hockey video game franchise. Developed for the current-gen consoles, the game will also be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 as NHL: Legacy Edition.

After the poorly-received NHL 15, the developers are making numerous changes to the upcoming title, such as bringing back the fan-favorite EA Sports Hockey League (EASHL) mode and online-enabled couch co-op. Other notable features include more precise goalie controls, new player morale mechanic in Be a GM, and various visual improvements for added authenticity.

Madden NFL 16 is an upcoming football game developed and published by EA. It runs on both current-gen and last-gen consoles using tried-and-true Ignite and Impact graphics engines, respectively. The title introduces reworked receiver and defender controls, as well as new quarterback mechanics like body-relative throws.

FIFA Street is an upcoming street soccer game from EA Sports. This game is the fourth in the series, but it is titled simply FIFA Street as it signifies a reboot of the franchise. Like the previous installments, FIFA Street offers multiple game modes involving small teams of up to 6 players, as well as one-on-one games. Unlike its predecessors, however, it features a more realistic visual style and uses the same engine as FIFA 12.

According to EA, FIFA Street 4 offers twice as many tricks as FIFA 12 does, and introduces a new Street Ball Control system. The new installment in the arcade-style snowboarding series, SSX, is set to release in February 2012. Titled simply SSX, the game features the same fast-paced races and over-the-top tricks that the franchise is famous for, while introducing more serious elements as well.

SSX utilizes actual satellite data and recreates nine real mountain ranges (such as the Himalayas) in the game. A number of old and new characters are available – this time dressed appropriately for the cold weather, and carrying gear like headlamps, ice axes, and even wingsuits. The latter add a new gameplay mechanic that allows you to glide long distances and cross gaps that would otherwise be insurmountable. Despite the more realistic visuals, SSX is still very much an arcade game – consider the Rewind feature that lets you redo a landing or a trick you just messed up, although with a penalty to your score. UFC Undisputed 3 is an upcoming MMA simulator from a Japanese game studio Yuke’s. It is published by THQ, which has an exclusive agreement with Zuffa, LLC to release UFC-based games until 2018.

The game offers a number of changes and improvements over its predecessors, UFC Undisputed 2009 and 2010. You’ll be able to play over 150 UFC fighters, including the new featherweight and bantamweight classes. UFC Undisputed 3 also features a Pride mode with its own authentic environments, commentators, and rules (such as allowing brutal soccer kicks and head stomps).

On the technical side, there’s graphical improvements, new camera positions, fighter entrances, and a new Amateur control scheme to make the game more accessible to new players. Finally, the online aspect of the game is also getting a revamp.

EA comes up with a new FIFA title every year, and this one is no exception. FIFA Soccer 12, to be released on September 27th in the US, offers a variety of new features and gameplay improvements. Chief among them is the new Player Impact Engine on which EA developers have toiled away for two years. According to the official sources, it will allow for realistic results from player collisions on the pitch. This new physics engine will be able to tell whether the player was injured, and which part of their body was damaged.

Other improvements include Tactical Defending, Precision Dribbling, and better AI which considers the strengths of their teammates when making decisions. The game is said to include over 500 licensed clubs and 15.000 players, more authentic crowds and easier navigation.

Madden NFL 12 is an upcoming American football simulator, developed, as usual, by EA Tiburon, and published by EA Sports. EA owns an exclusive license to use NFL materials until 2013, so it is still going to be a while until there’s any alternative to their Madden series.

Madden 12 will feature a number of improvements and additions, such as a new tackling system, enhanced defensive AI, custom playbooks, and online communities. The Franchise mode has also been improved with new features like dynamic player performance, expanded rosters and cut days, new rookie scouting system, and more. Josh Looman, the senior designer in charge of the Franchise mode, even calls it “the most in-depth career mode game ever”.
