This game was released on October 28, 2011 and is no longer available to pre-order. Any incentives that were offered are listed below.

The ever-popular Battlefield series of first-person shooters will see a new addition this year. Titled Battlefield 3, the game will use a next-generation engine called Frostbite 2, which takes full advantage of DX11 and 64-bit CPUs. The new engine is said to deliver improved dynamic lighting, destructible environments and highly realistic character animations.

BF3 will re-introduce fighter jets and the prone position which was absent from Bad Company. The multiplayer mode is going to feature a kill cam similar to that in Call of Duty games. Battlefield 3 will support up to 64 players per server on the PC, but only 24 on consoles due to hardware limitations. Multiplayer is, of course, the main focus of Battlefield games, but BF3 will still have a single-player campaign, which is going to take place in year 2014.

BF3 Limited Edition pre-order bonuses

Gamers who preorder Battlefield 3 Limited Edition (available at any of the retailers listed below) will receive a bonus pack called Back to Karkand. It contains four BF2 maps rebuilt for the new game engine (Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Sharqi Peninsula and Wake Island), a few iconic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, and exclusive unlocks. In addition, the following retailer-specific incentives are offered:

  • GameStop: exclusive Physical Warfare pack which contains a Type 88 light machine gun with bipod, a flash suppressor for the SKS sniper rifle, and day-one access as well as armor-piercing flechette ammo for the DAO-12 shotgun. While this DLC is exclusive, all players will receive it for free sometime after the release. In addition, if you’re a Power-Up Rewards member at GameStop, you will get the official Prima Strategy Guide for BF3.
  • Origin: EA’s official store is offering the Physical Warfare pack and two Battlefield Play4Free items (BF3 Edition Beret & 870 Combat Shotgun). US PC Download customers also can preload the game before the release for instant access when it launches.
  • Amazon: $20 credit (console versions only) and an exclusive multiplayer dog tag pack. These tags are shown on screen every time you kill an enemy.
  • Best Buy: SPECACT (Special Activities) kit with 8 multiplayer weapon and uniform skins.

As for the UK, you can reserve the Limited Edition of BF3 with Physical Warfare pack at GAME or GameStation. On the other hand, Play.com will give you an exclusive set of 10 Dog Tags.

So tired of this shit. EA is ripping us off and giving unfair advantage to people who preorder!! Goddamn exclusive DLCs were never a good idea. If I pay $60 for the game, i want the FULL game, period. Boycott BF3 until EA changes their minds:

Actually EA said that it will be available to everyone after some time. Also that “The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way. ” Up to you if you believe that I guess.

I seriously don’t understand what is keeping people from pre-ordering in the first place. it’s not like it costs a bunch more, really, it doesn’t. and you don’t have to pay(gamestop) until it comes out. so really, you’re kinda sayin “I want to buy this game within 48 hours after it comes out, and why don’t you jus slap those codes in with it for me.”
it’s not that hard, seriously, people…
