Gears of War: Judgment is the newest title in the Gears of War series, and a prequel to the original trilogy. The single-player campaign focuses on the Kilo Squad which is led by Baird and Cole. The unit is charged with treason, cowardice, and desertion, and it’s up to the player to exonerate Lt. Baird and his crew. In order to achieve this you will have to play through the events leading up to the trial, uncover the truth, and hopefully justify the actions of the Kilo Squad in the court-martial. The developers call this the “Mission Declassification” system.

The multiplayer aspect of Gears of War: Judgment seems promising as well. The most interesting addition is the new class-based OverRun mode which pits COG soldiers against the Locust. Also new to the series is Free-For-All, a fast-paced deathmatch mode where every player fights for himself.

Pre-order bonuses

Pre-order Gears of War: Judgment and you will get an exclusive multiplayer weapon, the Classic Hammerburst. This accurate assault rifle fires six-round bursts. Furthermore, reserving your copy at one of the following retailers will net you more exclusive bonuses:

  • GameStop: Young Marcus character skin and Lambent weapon skin in competitive multiplayer, plus early access to OverRun mode for PowerUp Rewards members.
  • Best Buy: Anya multiplayer skin and $20 credit for Gamers Club Unlocked members.
  • Microsoft Store: Alex Brand multiplayer skin and 1,600 Xbox Live points.
  • Amazon: Young Dom multiplayer skin.
  • Walmart: a choice between Gears of War 2 and 3.

Early copies of GoW: Judgment will also include a token for the original Gears of War game.

This 36″ long, hand-painted reproduction of the Gears of War Judgment Lancer features chainsaw sound effects and vibration powered by three C batteries. The name “Car no. 13” refers to its taxi-like color scheme. The replica is exclusive to GameStop.

Gears of War: Judgment is developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly, and published by Microsoft. The release date of this Xbox 360 exclusive is scheduled for March 19, 2013 in North America.
