Need for Speed is an upcoming reboot of the franchise developed by Ghost Games (responsible for the 2013 racer NFS: Rivals) and published by EA. Its key features are nocturnal open world, extensive car customization, and street races similar to those in Undergound or Most Wanted. EA boasts that their collaboration with car culture website SpeedHunters allows them to deliver an authentic urban car scene experience to the players.
Like its 2013 predecessor from the same developers, the new Need for Speed runs on the modern Frostbite 3 engine. It has a fresh soundtrack featuring 61 artists from 16 countries. The game also comes with a controversial always-online requirement.
All digital and physical Need for Speed pre-orders get the Styling Pack, which consists of three exclusive visual customization items (spoiler, rims, and splitter) as well as an exclusive “Styling” sticker.
This edition costs $10 more than the regular one, and comes with the following digital content:
- Performance Pack (turbocharger, engine block, and special exhaust)
- Permanent 10% discount on all in-game purchases made with Speed Points
- Tricked-out starter car
- Exclusive wraps
- Unique identifying sticker
- VIP icon
While the console versions of the Deluxe Edition can be purchased anywhere, the PC version is, unsurprisingly, exclusive to Origin.
Five Ways to Play trailer
The video introduces a crucial gameplay mechanic called “rep”, which grants access to various events, upgrades, and so on. Accumulate rep using five different approaches: Speed, Style, Build, Crew, and Outlaw.
Need for Speed is set to launch on November 3, 2015 in North America – for the modern consoles, that is. PC version is scheduled for spring 2016 and will come with unlocked framerate and better visuals.
