This game was released on June 09, 2015 and is no longer available to pre-order. Any incentives that were offered are listed below.

The Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG set in the world of Tamriel a thousand years before the events of Skyrim. It is developed by ZeniMax and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game has 9 races (10 including the Imperial Edition-exclusive Imperials), four classes with 3 diverse skill lines each, and three factions. PvP is faction-based, with opportunities for both smaller groups and larger ones to do their part in the war.

ESO does away with separate servers and all the related annoyances, and instead has just one “Mega Server” per region (US and Europe) for PC and Mac gamers. Xbox One and PS4 owners will be getting separate Mega Servers.

Pre-order bonuses

The pre-order bonuses for ESO go beyond cosmetic items – reserving your copy in advance seems to be the only way you’ll be able to choose your Alliance freely no matter the race of your character. Here’s the whole list of bonuses that you’ll get with the free Explorer’s Pack:

  • The ability to join any alliance, no matter which race you choose
  • Four in-game treasure maps
  • Scuttler vanity pet

The Explorer’s Pack is available when pre-purchasing through the official website (digital only) as well as participating retailers. So far it is listed on Amazon, GameStop, and Target, but according to the main website, Walmart and Best Buy should have it as well. In addition to this bonus content, you will also get a three-day early access to the game (PC & Mac only).

Imperial Edition

ESO Imperial Edition

The Imperial Edition includes the following extras:

  • Physical items:
    • A collectible 12″ statue of Daedric Prince Molag Bal
    • A printed map of Tamriel outlining the lands of the three factions
    • A 224-page illustrated guide annotated by Imperial scholar Flaccus Terentius
  • Digital items:
    • Exclusive Imperial race which can join any Alliance
    • Rings of Mara, which grant an XP bonus when playing with a friend
    • Imperial White Horse mount
    • Mudcrab vanity pet

The digital Imperial Edition (available on the official website) is slightly cheaper, and, of course, only includes the digital extras. In addition to the Imperial Edition content, all pre-orders will also get the aforementioned Explorer’s Pack, plus 5-day early access (again, only for PC & Mac).

Tamriel Unlimited (june 9, 2015)

The release of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited not only finally brings this title to the console players, but also removes the subscription fee (an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership is still required). Whether you call it a relaunch, a rebrand, or an expansion pack, it adds numerous new features and improvements in an attempt to attract the players back to the game. The many changes are outlined in the trailer below:

Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is scheduled to be released on June 9, 2015 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. Players who already own the game on PC or Mac shall be converted to the new version free of charge.
