Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker

Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker is the fourth expansion coming to the evergrowing MMORPG. The DLC is developed and published by Square Enix. It will be available on PS4, PS5, PC, and Mac.

In the highly-anticipated expansion, you’ll be able to witness the climax of the Zodiark and Hydaelyn storyline. As you progress through the journey, you’ll find yourself in new areas you’ve yet to explore. These include the colorful subterranean environment Labyrinthos, the dense rainforests of Thavnair, and the dark frozen plains of Garlemald.

Additionally to the story quests and new horizons, you’ll also be able to play two new jobs: Sage and Reaper. As a sage, you’ll use the wisdom of aetherology, sorcery, and medicine to heal the allies around you. But if you choose to become a Reaper, your job is to deal damage. Thanks to the verboten power you gained from binding yourself with a void creature,  you wreak havoc to any enemy standing in your way.

And if that wasn’t enough, the game also includes many more features. These include new tribes to meet and dungeons to explore. Alongside that, you’ll be clashing with the new threats lurking around the area.

New World

New World is Amazon Game Studios’ first foray into MMOs. A PC-exclusive, it runs on the company’s royalty-free Lumberyard engine and can be played without a subscription fee (albeit with an upfront payment for the game).

As one might gather from the title, New World is set in colonial America – except with a fantasy twist. Players have to content with both supernatural forces and each other in a land rife with danger and opportunity. The game’s classless progression system allows any combination of attributes and weapon masteries.

Kingdom Under Fire II Box Art

Kingdom Under Fire II

Kingdom Under Fire II is a game by Korean developer Blueside that blends MMORPG and RTS elements. It is being published in North America and Europe by GameForge. While known for their portfolio of free-to-play MMOs, GameForge is choosing a premium pricing model for Kingdom Under Fire II – which is to say, a one-time upfront payment, and perhaps higher drop rates than in regular F2P titles.

Notably, the game was announced all the way back in 2008, and languished in development hell for years. Several publishers have released it in Asia and Russia, where its success was mixed at best.

Three editions of KUF2 are available for pre-order, each offering exclusive bonuses for doing so. The game can be purchased through the official GameForge website.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Box Art

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

Shadowkeep is an upcoming expansion to Bungie’s Destiny 2 that marks the game’s transition to a free-to-play action MMO. As new nightmares emerge from the shadows of the moon, the players have to slay them before they can cast humanity back into an age of darkness.

Shadowkeep brings deeper character customization with expanded RPG elements, adding back stats and overhauling the armor system. Guardians also get a new type of ability called finishing moves.

With Steam and Google Stadia versions on the way, Destiny 2 will offer cross-saves, allowing the player to transfer their Guardian to any supported platform. This should ease the game’s transition from Battle.net to Steam.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers

Shadowbringers is the third expansion pack to Square Enix’s popular MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV. The expansion raises the level cap to 80 and brings a plethora of new content, chief among which are the Gunbreaker and Dancer jobs, playable female-only Viera and male-only Hrothgar races, and expansive areas including Rak’Tika Greatwood, Amh Araeng, and Il Mheg.

Also new in Shadowbringers are three features to help the players experience the game in different ways. The Trust System allows the player to take on instanced dungeons with familiar NPCs on their side. The New Game+ system lets them replay previously completed or missed quests. Lastly, World Visit opens up the possibility of traveling to other servers on the same data center.

Ownership of the base game – FFXIV: A Realm Reborn – is required. Purchasing Shadowbringers grants access to the two previous expansions, Heavensward and Stormblood.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr

Elsweyr is the third expansion pack for The Elder Scrolls Online, and a part of the Season of the Dragon storyline spanning the entire 2019. Two most notable additions include the new Necromancer class with its three unique Skill Lines, and the titular Elsweyr – the homeland of the Khajiit.

The wild and untamed region suffers under the rule of the Imperial usurper queen Euraxia, and burns from the fires of rampaging dragons. It is up to the player to discover what dark purpose lies behind this.

The expansion includes dragon hunt events, the Sunspire Trial, a “huge amount” of new delves, public dungeons, world bosses, and side-quests. It also adds new collectibles, crafting motifs, and gear for the players to kit out their characters in.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Box Art

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind

The latest expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online adds Vvardenfell: the main island of the Morrowind province, and the largest new zone yet. As the game is set 700 years before the single-player title The Elder Scrolls III, the expansion portrays the region at its prime.

With the addition of the Vvardenfell area, Morrowind also brings a new class, Warden, who possesses powerful nature magic and a War Bear companion. There is also a new 4v4v4 PvP arena format called Battlegrounds for fast-paced, competitive matches. Thanks to the One Tamriel system, Morrowind‘s content will be appropriately scaled to the player’s level.

New players can purchase the Standard Edition ($59.99), which includes both the Morrowind expansion and The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited base game. A digital Upgrade Edition ($39.99) is available to existing players.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is a third-person MMO shooter set in a near-future version of New York, which was devastated by a weaponized virus. As the deadly pandemic sweeps through the nation, essential services fail one by one, and society itself collapses. It is under these circumstances that the last line of defense, the titular Division, is activated. Players take the role of one of its agents and are tasked with investigating the source of the virus and restoring order.

The Division runs on the next-gen Snowdrop engine developed by Ubisoft Massive. The game features a persistent open world and numerous RPG elements such as character levels, gear, and loot. There are no classes, so players are free to specialize in whatever skills they prefer. The upcoming title also has PvP combat, but only in special areas called Dark Zones.

The Elder Scrolls Online Pre-Order Bonuses

The Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG set in the world of Tamriel a thousand years before the events of Skyrim. It is developed by ZeniMax and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game has 9 races (10 including the Imperial Edition-exclusive Imperials), four classes with 3 diverse skill lines each, and three factions. PvP is faction-based, with opportunities for both smaller groups and larger ones to do their part in the war.

ESO does away with separate servers and all the related annoyances, and instead has just one “Mega Server” per region (US and Europe) for PC and Mac gamers. Xbox One and PS4 owners will be getting separate Mega Servers.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a relaunch of the original FFXIV with a brand new client, improved engine, different server system, streamlined interface, addition of new jobs as well as modification of existing ones, and so on. It does look like Square Enix did an impressive job of addressing the shortcomings of the game’s previous incarnation.

Meanwhile, the lore and storyline of the game stayed largely the same, although some things have changed there as well. In order to explain the changes in the land of Eorzea, A Realm Reborn takes place five years after the events in the original.

Guild Wars 2 Pre-Order Details

Guild Wars 2 is a highly anticipated MMORPG from ArenaNet. Similarly to the original game, GW2 offers an engaging storyline, no grind while leveling up, and competitive PvP. The biggest addition in the sequel is a persistent world, making Guild Wars 2 a true MMO.

The game also doesn’t have a subscription fee, although there is an item shop where players can purchase optional upgrades for their characters via microtransactions. Don’t worry, though: the items are cosmetic in nature and won’t turn Guild Wars 2 into a pay-to-win MMORPG.

Other interesting features include Dynamic Events (ArenaNet’s attempt to improve classic MMORPG quests), new class archetypes (Damage, Support, and Control), a personal story that grows as you play the game, and slick graphics combined with Havok physics engine for creating a pleasant visual experience.

Pre-Order The Secret World for Beta Access

Funcom’s upcoming MMORPG title – The Secret World – might have some tough competition in the form of ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2, but the game has plenty of unique features to offer. TSW is set in a twisted version of the modern world where every conspiracy theory and urban legend is true, and secret societies (the Illuminati, the Dragon, and the Templars) rule from the shadows.

The game has no classes or levels, allowing you to freely choose from ~500 abilities as well as many different melee and ranged weapons. Players can also pick one of the “deck templates”, each of which contains 7 active and 7 passive abilities that complement each other and create an effective build. In other words, new players will be able to start immediately with a pre-made build, while experienced players will be able to customize their character as they please.
