V1 Interactive, an independent development studio led by Halo‘s co-creator Marcus Lehto, is preparing to launch their debut project: Disintegration. This sci-fi shooter is set in Earth’s near future where scarcity and pandemic have driven humanity to the brink of extinction, forcing them to transfer their brains to robotic bodies through the process of Integration. It wasn’t long before the majority of the Integrated decided to eliminate the remnants of humanity altogether. Standing in their way is a small resistance group of Outlaws with gravcycle pilot Romer Shoal at the helm.
Disintegration plays like a mashup between a first-person shooter and a real-time strategy game: the player rides a heavily armed gravcycle while commanding legions of troops. In addition to its single-player campaign, the game features three team-based 5v5 multiplayer modes.
Predator: Hunting Grounds is an asymmetrical multiplayer shooter developed by IllFonic for PlayStation 4 and the PC. The game pits an elite Fire Team of human soldiers against a single Predator armed with deadly alien tech. Both the Predator and the soldiers have classes with unique abilities and weapon loadouts. Fans of the Predator franchise will be interested in the pre-order bonuses, which comprise in-game items inspired by the original movie.
Half-Life: Alyx is a VR-exclusive shooter and the first entry in the series since 2007. It is not the long-awaited continuation to Half-Life 2: Episode 2, but rather a tie-in that takes place between the events of the first and second games. Players take control of Alyx Vance, and together with her father Eli, mount a resistance against the Combine’s invasion of Earth.
The game is built from ground-up for VR, and supports every SteamVR-compatible headset including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, and Valve’s own Index. Input-wise, it works with both button-based and modern finger tracking systems.
DOOM Eternal is a direct sequel to id Software’s 2016 shooter DOOM. Upon returning to Earth, the Slayer finds it invaded by demons and proceeds to do what he does best: rip and tear through their hordes. There are new weapons, such as the distance-closing Meat Hook, new abilities, and new classes of enemies with unique attacks.
Another new feature in DOOM Eternal is a Dark Souls-like invasion mechanic where the player assumes the role of a demon and invades the other players’ campaigns. While it won’t be available at launch, it will be added as a free update shortly after. There is also an online 2-vs-1 Battlemode that involves the Doom Slayer facing off against two player-controlled demons.

New features include semi-permanent injuries which can slow down the protagonist or affect his aim, a fatigue system tied to traversing the island’s diverse and often harsh terrain, and enhanced stealth mechanics including mud camouflage. There is also tiered loot, crafting, and a class-based progression system. Breakpoint supports co-op with up to four players, as well as competitive multiplayer PvP. Unlike its predecessor Wildlands, the game requires an active internet connection to play.
Shadowkeep is an upcoming expansion to Bungie’s Destiny 2 that marks the game’s transition to a free-to-play action MMO. As new nightmares emerge from the shadows of the moon, the players have to slay them before they can cast humanity back into an age of darkness.

With Steam and Google Stadia versions on the way, Destiny 2 will offer cross-saves, allowing the player to transfer their Guardian to any supported platform. This should ease the game’s transition from Battle.net to Steam.

The game is said to have “the deepest campaign yet” as well as five multiplayer modes including Escape: a new class-based co-op mode where three players work against the clock (and a bunch of Swarm) to blow up a Hive and get out alive.
Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival co-op shooter developed by Gunfire Games (best known for Darksiders III). Humanity’s only hope is the technology to open portals to other worlds, allowing them to scavenge for resources and carve out new footholds as they seek to defeat the Root.
These alternate worlds feature unique biomes and are generated dynamically, resulting in new maps, encounters, quests, and world events each time. The game offers gear and weapon crafting, character progression, and epic boss fights. There are three classes, or archetypes, that only affect the starter loadout; accordingly, up to three players can join forces in online co-op.

There is a plethora of environments to explore, including treacherous swamps and overgrown jungles, as well as numerous factions which wage war for control of the wasteland.
